Recently, the demand for boycott of Bollywood films had gained a lot of momentum on social media. Even before the release of Bollywood films, a section of social media users started demanding boycott of the film or the actors present in it, which had a significant impact on the performance and earnings of the films. Recently, other films including Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan also had to bear the brunt of it. In such a situation, recently, actor Arjun Kapoor reacted to the boycott trending on social media and said that the entire industry needs to come together on this.
Bollywood Hungama In a conversation with Arjun Kapoor said – ‘I think we made a mistake by keeping quiet about it and it was our decency but people have started taking advantage of it. I think we have made a mistake in thinking that ‘Our work will speak for itself’. You know you don’t always need to get your hands dirty, but I think we tolerated it a lot and now people have made it a habit.’
Arjun Kapoor further says- ‘We need to come together and do something about it because what people write about us or the hashtags that are trending are far from reality. When we do films that do well at the box office, people like us not because of our surname but because of the film.
Continuing his talk, Arjun Kapoor said- ‘If you keep throwing mud continuously, then the new car will also lose a little shine, will it not? We have faced a lot of mud in the last few years because we have closed our eyes to it. Because, we think people’s perception will change after the release of the film. Arjun Kapoor was last seen in ‘Ek Villain Returns’ with Disha Patani, Tara Sutaria and John Abraham.
