BJP MP Manoj Tiwari rewarded wrestler Divya Kakran for questioning Kejriwal government

New Delhi. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari presented a reward of Rs 5 lakh to Commonwealth Games medalist wrestler Divya Kakran. Divya lives in the North East Delhi region, which Tiwari represents in the Lok Sabha.

BJP Member of parliament met Divya at her constituency’s home in Gokulpuri. Divya, who won a bronze medal at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, tied a rakhi to Tiwari. Tiwari pledged to give him full support. After giving Divya a reward of five lakh rupees, Tiwari said, ‘I have come to my sister so that she can tie me a rakhi.’

Divya had earlier complained about not getting any financial assistance from the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi government, however, on Thursday claimed that the wrestler was provided financial assistance till 2017.

The education department, which looks after sports affairs of the Delhi government, claimed, “As per records, Divya represented Delhi till 2016-17. Cash incentives are awarded on the basis of their performance. The Wrestling Federation of India has confirmed that Divya Kakran has been representing Uttar Pradesh since 2017.
