FIFA suspended the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday, 16 August. With this, FIFA had talked about snatching the hosting of the U17 Women’s Football World Cup from India. However, now the central government has to intervene in this and India can get relief in the matter. The central government has taken the initiative to talk to FIFA, in which positive response has come to the fore.
News agency PTI has informed by tweeting that the Central Government has told the Supreme Court that two meetings have been held with FIFA regarding the organization of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup 2022. It is believed that the matter can be resolved between FIFA and AIFF. FIFA suspended the Football Federation of India because of third party (legal and political) interference in it.

In a press release issued by FIFA, it was also said that FIFA is in constant touch with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and it is hoped that positive results of the matter can still be achieved. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had ordered the formation of a Committee of Administrators (COA) in AIFF and directed the CoA to conduct the federation elections at the earliest, but this has not happened yet.
The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing of the Football Federation of India (AIFF) case till August 22, as the Center has said that talks are on with FIFA to hold the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India. The court also asked the Center to take necessary measures to hold the World Cup in India and lift the suspension of AIFF.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, AS Bopanna and JB Paridwala that the government and the Committee of Administrators have held two meetings with FIFA and efforts are on to organize the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India. He requested for adjournment of the hearing of the matter till August 22 so that there could be a consensus among the active parties of AIFF.
