Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the final of the French Open 2022 by defeating Korea’s Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Hoo on Saturday. The Commonwealth Games gold-winning doubles beat their Korean rivals 21-18, 21-14 in the semi-final that lasted 45 minutes.
The seventh seeded Indian pair reached the second final of the BWF Tour 2022 with this win.

The Koreans leveled 7-7, but Satwik-Chirag ensured a four-point lead till the break. Choi-Kim briefly tried to control the tempo of the rallies after the break, which hastened his return. They were soon leading 16-13, but Chirag made a perfect comeback to proceed cautiously to keep the game alive.
After the Indian doubles trailed 18-19, Choi made an unexpected mistake to give India two points and Chirag smashed India to win the first game. The Indian pair did not repeat their mistakes in the second game, while Korea’s early mistakes gave India an 18-12 lead. The Korean pair scored a point from a meager return from the Indian serve but Chirag made two smashes to propel India into the final.
