IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta told news agency ANI, “Neeraj Chopra will not participate in the Commonwealth Games 2022. He is not fit due to injury in the final of the World Athletics Championships. They have informed us about this.”

Neeraj suffered an injury during the final of the World Athletics Championships. He was also seen wearing a bandage on his thigh during the event. After this he had an MRI scan, in which groin injury was detected. He has been advised rest for three weeks. Neeraj himself also said after the final that I felt a little pain after the fourth throw. After that I tied the bandage and did the next throw. For the time being, I have just returned from the event, so much trouble is not known. It will be known only after the investigation, how serious this injury is.

Neeraj Chopra won the javelin throw gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Then he became the first athlete from India to win a gold medal in this event.
