New Delhi. India’s discus thrower female athlete Kamalpreet Kaur has been banned for 3 years for doping. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), affiliated with the international body World Athletics, has announced that this decision has been taken due to the use of a banned substance. AIU has tweeted in this regard that the results of any competition they have participated in after 7 March 2022 will not be considered valid. The ban against Kamalpreet Kaur will be deemed to have started from 29 March 2022. Kamalpreet finished sixth in the Tokyo Olympics.

Earlier, top Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after she tested positive for a banned steroid test. Now Kamalpreet has been found guilty of doping, after which she has been banned for 3 years.

Kamalpreet finished sixth in Tokyo Olympics
The ‘Athletics Integrity Unit’ is an independent body set up by World Athletics. He had issued a notice to this 26-year-old player of Punjab and asked him to present his side. National record holder Kamalpreet had finished sixth in the Tokyo Olympics. Kamalpreet Kaur had set a national record in Patiala last year by throwing 66.59m discus. Earlier in the year 2018, his personal best was 61.04 meters.

Won Gold in Indian Grand Prix Meet
Kamalpreet, who finished first with a national record in Patiala, had qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. He threw 64.00 meters discus in the qualifying round in Tokyo. She finished sixth in the final with 63.70m. This year, Kaur won the gold medal in the Indian Grand Prix meet in Thiruvananthapuram in March by throwing 61.39m discus.
