Morocco, ranked 22 in the world, held 2018 runners-up Croatia to a draw in their Group F encounter of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Thursday. Both the teams shared a point each after the match played at the Al-Bait Stadium ended in a zero-goal draw. Morocco could not open its account in the World Cup 2018, but here it snatched a point from Croatia.
Croatia, captained by Luka Modric, made several attempts to score in this match, but the Moroccan defense failed all attempts. Captain Modric got a freekick in the 81st minute and in extra time but he could not convert it into a goal.
On the other hand, Abde Ezelzouli, who plays for Osasuna club in La Liga, came on the field in the second half and created several chances for Morocco, although Croatia denied him the opportunity to convert, thwarting all his attempts.
With this draw, Croatia and Morocco have come first and second respectively in Group-F. Only once has Morocco gone past the group stage, in 1986, but this time they will face challenges from Belgium and Canada in the upcoming matches.
