Former World No one Simona Halep provisionally suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency for a positive test

Romania’s former world number one Simona Halep has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said on Friday. Halep was tested during the US Open and both her A and B samples confirmed the presence of the drug.

ITIA confirmed that the 31-year-old Romanian tennis player was provisionally suspended under Article 7.12.1 of the 2022 Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP). The world number 9 has tested positive for the anti-anaemia drug roxadastat in New York and has been temporarily suspended.
