IND vs ZIM: India defeated Zimbabwe by 13 runs in the last match of the three-match ODI series to win the series 3-0. India had earlier made a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series on the tour of West Indies. There was captain Shikhar Dhawan but here under the captaincy of KL Rahul, India made a clean sweep in the ODI series for the first time. Now after this, the Indian team will play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 on August 28 in the great match.

Playing first in this match, the Indian team scored 289 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century of 130 runs. Ishaan Kishan also scored a fifty. In reply, Zimbabwe’s team was all out for 276 runs in 49.3 overs. Sikandar Raza’s scintillating 115 was not enough to win Zimbabwe. What was the status of this match?

Talking about this match, India scored 289 runs for eight wickets while playing the first international century of Shubman Gill’s career. Gill scored 130 runs in 97 balls with the help of 15 fours and a six. He shared a 140-run partnership for the third wicket with Ishan Kishan (50 off 61 balls, six fours). India won the toss and decided to bat for the first time in this series. The visiting team, however, did not look in the beginning and could only manage 63 runs for one wicket in 15 overs.

Both experienced openers, skipper KL Rahul (30 off 46 balls) and Shikhar Dhawan (40 off 68 balls) will be disappointed that they could not convert a good start into big innings. Rahul, who is making a comeback after a long break due to injury, got a great opportunity to regain his momentum ahead of the Asia Cup T20. However, he played fast bowler Brad Evans on the wickets. Evans took five wickets for 54 runs. It was not easy for the batsmen to bat in the first hour. The opening pair of Dhawan and Rahul also failed to play a big innings.

Barring the partnership between Gill and Kishan, the Indian batsmen could not play as expected in the rest of the over. Gill, who returned to one-day internationals with the series against the West Indies, looked in fine form as he hit 15 fours and a six. Evans made an LBW appeal against Gill which was turned down by the on-field umpire. On taking the DRS, replays showed that the ball hit the pad after hitting Gill’s bat. On the same ball, Kishan was run out who tried to take a run but Gill was focused on appeal and did not run for the run.
