New Delhi. Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen on Tuesday moved up two places to reach a career-best sixth position in the latest BWF world rankings. This player from Almora has shown great form in this season. He has 76,424 points in 25 tournaments. French Open champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also climbed a place to return to their career-best ranking of seventh in men’s doubles.
The Indian pair won two BWF World titles – India Open Super 500 and French Open Super 750. He won a gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the World Championships for the first time. He also played an important role in India’s Thomas Cup victory.
PV Sindhu also moved up a notch
Women’s doubles pair of Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand and mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Christo also moved up to 23rd and 28th positions respectively, their career-best rankings. Trisa and Gayatri jumped five places while Tanisha and Ishaan jumped two places.
PV Sindhu, who won two medals in the Olympics, has also moved up a place to fifth. He has not participated in any tournament since the Birmingham Games due to an ankle injury. Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy continue to be at 11th and 12th spot respectively in the men’s singles rankings.
