New Delhi. India’s star boxer Lovlina Borgohain on Monday described her Asian Championship meeting as “very important” and said her maiden tournament in the new weight category will help her recover lost form. Lovlina had been battling poor form after winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Keeping in mind the Paris Olympics, he has changed the weight category from 69 to 75 kg.
After returning home, Lovlina, who won the gold medal at the Asian Championship in Ammam, Jordan, said, “This gold means a lot to me. It is very important. This will boost my confidence.”
Nice to play first championship in new weight category and win gold
Lovlina said, “It was my first championship in the new weight category and I won the gold. I know I am going in the right direction. I am gaining form and trying to do my best at the right time. This win means a lot.”
Lovlina said, “I won a bronze medal in the Olympics last year. I am trying to do well in every championship. My first target is to win a gold medal in the World Championships to be held in Delhi next year. After this, winning a medal in the Paris Olympics is also the goal. India won 4 gold, two silver and six bronze medals in the Asian Championship. All four golds were won by female boxers.
