Dr. Satendra Singh, the co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities, who himself suffers from 70% locomotor disability, has filed a complaint in the court accusing the film. On his complaint, he has shared a copy of the notice issued by the commissioner’s court.
According to the notice, the court has sought clarification from the directors of CBFC and the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the complaint lodged against ‘Shabash Mithu’. It also mentions Lal Singh Chaddha. According to reports, complainant Dr Satendra Singh says that both these films violate the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, which is clearly derogatory remarks against people with disabilities. However, these allegations have not been officially confirmed yet.
