- Mark Boucher has last chance to become world champion
T20 World Cup 2022: South Africa returned to international cricket on 10 November 1991 in international cricket. For the last three decades, the African team has been counted amongst some of the best teams in the world. No one ever doubted the strength of this team, but despite all these qualities, it could never become a world champion. After returning to international cricket, South Africa took part in 9 World Cups of 50 overs and each time it was disappointed. At the same time, 7 T20 World Cups have also been organized so far, but here too this team has got only disappointment.

Mark Boucher could not see South Africa becoming T20 World Cup champions as a player in his long career but he will have the opportunity to do so as a coach. However, this time in Australia also the chances of victory are not so good as the team’s preparations have suffered a setback. Captain Temba Bavuma is under pressure for his spot, Rasi van der Dussen and Dwayne Pretorius are out with injuries while big hitter David Miller cannot do it alone.
South Africa have reached Australia for the tournament after losing the series 1-2 to India. This team has never reached beyond the semi-finals in the T20 World Cup. The team last made it to the last four in 2014.
South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022
South Africa are in Group 2 with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and two other qualifiers. Boucher has announced that he will step down after the T20 World Cup and take up a new position as the coach of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Boucher’s last chance to become world champion
During Boucher’s three-year stint with South Africa, the team’s results were not consistent and his relationship with Cricket South Africa was also not good. The board was ready to kick him out on charges of racism earlier in the year but suddenly dropped all charges against him. The coach, however, denied the allegations. In the midst of all these ups and downs, this will be the last match for Boucher as a coach to make his team a world champion.
