Anurag Kashyap (Anurag Kashyap) recalled the period when he was involved in the production of films related to mafia and criminals in Hindi cinema along with Ram Gopal Varma. Anurag told that during the process of making the film ‘Black Friday’ he was approached by gangsters and criminals as they wanted the filmmakers to show his story on the big screen.
Anurag Kashyap told in an interview given for Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel that he then met the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and told him that he needed security. The director of the film ‘Dobaara’ told that the commissioner told him – you do not need it. The underworld loves you, everyone loves you, you go. In fact, no one made a threatening call.
He then remembered an incident where a gangster’s accomplice took him to a strange party. Anurag told, ‘Two people came to my house and said that you have to go with us. I asked him who he was and he said I would have to accompany him. Anurag said that this happened soon after the release of ‘Satya’.
Anurag Kashyap reached gangster’s Christmas party
According to the Indian Express, he said, ‘It was a gangster’s Christmas party. There I was seated on the throne. Put the children in the lap. We took photos, fed food. Said ‘Merry Christmas’ and said that your film was very good.’
Popularity gained from the film ‘Satya’
Anurag told that something similar happened with Manoj Bajpayee and Saurabh Shukla after the release of the film. This 1998 film is still considered one of the most important gangster films of Indian cinema. This was an important turning point for Hindi cinema.
The film ‘Dagaara’ is facing boycott
On the work front, Dobara, directed by Anurag Kashyap starring Taapsee Pannu, released in theaters on August 19. This film is also facing opposition from people on social media.
