New Delhi. The Mission Olympic Unit (MOC) of the Sports Ministry on Wednesday approved a 35-day training camp for Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia in the US ahead of the Commonwealth Games. Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) will cover Bajrang’s travel, accommodation and daily expenses for training camp in Michigan, USA from June 25 to July 30. TOPS will also bear the cost of his personal coach and physio.
Bajrang Punia This camp will help in the preparation of Commonwealth Games and World Championships. The MoC also approved financial assistance for the acquisition of two T20 Proteam Look TT track bikes for TOPS development cyclists Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham.
T20 bikes are a new range of track bikes that were used by the French national team in the Tokyo Olympics. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) said, “These bikes are very light and ‘aerodynamically’ very effective. This will help the players in their preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
The MoC also approved financial assistance for country’s top table tennis player Sharath Kamal for his support staff fees, fitness training, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, fitness related tests and nutrition. Financial assistance was also approved for shooter Anish Bhanwala for 20 days overseas training and tournament in Germany.
